A note about our nice Patagonian wheather
Success will always depend, in great measure, on the climatic factors and the conditions of the terrain. The weather in this area is very unstable and unpredictable; you must be prepared for “wild” weather conditions and accept that we will do our best to achieve our goals.
For some of our programs, we take one extra day to improve the chances of a successful trip.
Our Mountain Guides will have the final call to modify partially or totally the programs..

STEP BY STEP DETAILS

DAY 1 (EA. CRISTINA)

We will start out, hiking from Estancia Cristina, located on the Northwest branch of the Argentino lake (200 meters or 630 feet a/s/l). During this first day, we will be walking along the Catalina river valley and then, after passing the Northern margin of Anita lagoon, we will arrive to the Norte river valley. The terrain traversed this day is mostly estepa and lengas forests, transiting on old cattle tracks. Estimated time of total walk is about 7-8 hours. We will set camp at “Río Norte 1”. Meals: Lunch Box and Dinner.

DAY 2 (NORTE RIVER)

Alter breakfast, we will go up the Norte river valley; during this day we will walk among lengas, mallines (wet grasslands) and glacier moreines (rocky terrain), with some traces of old tracks. We will walk right by the Mount Norte base, with excellent views to its glacier and small lake. We will get to a second lagoon and some more mallín terrain before getting to our second camping site, “Río Norte 2”. Total time of walking for this day is about 8 hours. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Box and Dinner.

DAY 3 (NORTE PASS)

From our previous night’ campsite, we will continue our way up the valley until reaching a mountain pass, “Paso Norte” (1100 meters or 3500 feet a/s/l). Upon arriving, the view is of some astounding 360º, and wide open on the valleys below. After some time for pictures (weather allowing), we will start walking downhill to the “Bosque Quemado” valley, approaching lake Viedma’s Seno Moyano. This day is mostly off the track, crossing through mallines, rocky terrain and bushes. Estimated total walking time for the day is of about 8 hours. We will set camp for the night at the “Puesto”, a beautiful spot by the shores of lake Viedma (300 meters or 980 feet a/s/l). Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Box and Dinner.

DAY 4 (VIEDMA LAKE)

After breakfast, we will walk to the East, going along lake Viedma by its Southern margin. We will be wading some small creeks, crossing through some more bushes and mallines until reaching the “Laguna de la Pescados”, where we will set camp for the night. We will be walking a total of about 5 hours this day. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Box and Dinner.

DAY 5 (EA. HELSINGFORS)

Once we leave the “Laguna de los Pescados”, some old tracks start to show in our way, we will follow them walking through hillsides, until we reach Estancia Helsingfors. We will be walking a total of about 5 hours this day. Meals: Breakfast and Lunch Box.
